Travel nursing is a rewarding and flexible career choice, and for many, it’s the perfect opportunity to explore different places while continuing to care for others. For Jordan, a nurse with five years of experience, joining ARMStaffing has been a life-changing step. In this blog, Jordan shares her career journey, the transition to travel nursing, and what it’s like being a part of the ARMS family.

Jordan’s career as a nurse started with a clear goal in mind. After enrolling in the nursing prerequisites at Rutgers University, she set herself up for an accelerated nursing program upon graduation. Her diverse experience in the field includes working in various settings: home care as a pediatric nurse, nursing homes, outpatient clinics, and hospitals. It was during her time in a hospital that Jordan gained the skills and experience necessary to take the next step—becoming a travel nurse.

Taking the Leap into Travel Healthcare

Although Jordan started her travel nursing career in MedSurg and LTAC, she had already been introduced to the idea of travel nursing earlier in her journey. While working in an outpatient unit, she met a travel nurse who inspired her. “They introduced me to the idea of being a travel contract nurse instead of staying in one place as staff,” Jordan recalls. The idea of being a travel nurse was so appealing to her that she couldn’t believe it was an option in her career.

Jordan’s adventurous spirit made travel nursing the perfect fit. As she says, “If you ask my mom, the grass does not grow beneath my feet, so I am always loving change and trying new things, so it was perfect for me.”

Being a part of the ARMS family

When Jordan decided to pursue travel nursing, ARMStaffing quickly became the agency that stood out. “I’ve only been traveling with ARMStaffing since November, but they are by far the most friendly and welcoming agency I have worked with,” she shares.

A big part of that positive experience has been her recruiter, Kat. “I would consider Kat, my recruiter, a good friend of mine now,” Jordan says. Kat goes above and beyond, checking in at the end of each week to ensure everything is going smoothly. “She doesn’t have to do that, but she is exceptional, and you can tell she cares about her nurses and their careers.”

Jordan also appreciates that she never has to worry about finding her next assignment or extending her current contract. “Kat is always ready to have a new assignment for me if I need it and is always just a phone call away. I am lucky!”

What’s Next for Jordan?

Looking ahead, Jordan has big plans, both professionally and personally. “What is next for me is my goal of visiting 30 countries before I turn 30 years old. I am 28 now and have visited 24, so I am very close to my goal!” Jordan enjoys planning her travel in between her contracts, allowing her to explore new destinations while still fulfilling her nursing career.

After reaching her travel goals, Jordan plans to start a family with her husband, who has been her travel partner throughout the past couple of years. As for her nursing career, she’s not slowing down anytime soon. “I plan on continuing to travel with ARMStaffing and I can’t wait to see where I end up next!”

The ARMS Advantage

For Jordan, ARMStaffing provides not only the professional support she needs but also a personal connection that makes the travel nursing experience even more fulfilling. With a recruiter who genuinely cares, the flexibility and opportunities that come with travel nursing feel even more exciting and achievable.
